CIMViewer2

December 2005

The new version of CIMViewer has been released with some important new features, including:

  • Its faster!

  • It handles bigger images on old equipment and operating systems (Win 95).
  • More image types (BMP, JPG, GIF, TIF, PNG).

  • Includes control over page position when printing.

  • Directly supports emailing of photos.

  • DocFinder.

  • Optional, Nested Directory structures.

Considerable research and background work has been completed on CIMViewer2/DocFinder over the past year. The new directory structure supports a Windows directory on the server (or elsewhere) for each account plus sub-directores for each risk. Both images and any other type of document can be stored and retrieved, including Word, PDF, and Email files.

DocFinder can be started from within CIMViewer or from the Risk Header (in both Runbpi ([F7] and [F8]) and VCIM Account Profile).

Whereas CIMViiewer is used for saving, viewing, printing, and emailing images, DocFinder is used for saving, viewing, emailing, and printing other types of documents by using a standard Windows Explorer interface that is rooted at a Client Account.

CIMViewer permission levels are set within VCIM User setup and are easy to understand. DocFinder permission levels are set using standard Windows Security and Group membership which requires an understanding of the Windows Security model.

An important safety feature of using CIMViewer/DocFinder is that all hard files are saved in one place in the network and  back up can be controlled using  Backup Manager in zFiler.

To make it easier to evaluate how CIMViewer/DocFinder can be used, offices that do not have the CIMViewer/DocFinder license can use it fully for any account that starts with “TEST” such as “TEST000”. Setup help can be found in System Administrator Help.

CIMViewer2 and DocFinder was released to BETA sites in Oct/Nov 2005.
