CIM-Data Automatic Updates!

Although several of our customers download regularly, many others have not. In the past, when we had to send updates by tape or CD, we made sure everyone got a copy. Now-a-days, with web access so simple and convenient, we had lost the ability to track. Then when people did download, many got confused on how to click on the Setup Icon, etc. and had to call for assistance.
After a quick discussion during a support meeting, we realized we needed to implement a new service and so here it is! Automatic Updates will accomplish the following for you:
| 1. | Automatically download new release installs, quick updates, and fixes. |
| 2. | Pop up a text file explaining the contents. |
| 3. | Start the install for you (you have to click some buttons to actually perform the install). |
| 4. | List for you both server and network processes (Runbpis, VCIMs, zFilers, etc.) that need to be closed before installing. |
| 5. |
Confirm that open files were replaced by InstallShield® on reboot. |
| 6. | Warn that custom software may need to be updated. |
| 7. | Notify us when you download successfully and when you install successfully. |
| 8. | Maintain a history of installs downloaded and installed. |
You can continue to download and install as you have in the past, but the new process is much simpler.
CIM-Data Automatic
Updates can be configured to start automatically by zFiler. By default,
it will download new files in the middle of the night, then open up a
Notepad to A) Notify you that a file was downloaded, and B) indicate
what has been updated in the download. If you wish, you may proceed to
install the update.

And for us, by sending notifications when you download and install, we can track better which customers, and their branches, are staying current with software updates. We hope everyone will try this new service.
CIM-Data Automatic Updates is available in the current download on our web site. To use it, after downloading, go to the options menu on zFiler and click on “Start CIMAutoUpdates Now”.
