CIM-Data’s “VRP” – Virtual Record Processor

CIM-Data was the first vendor to develop a Multi-Tier, Client-Server Systems Technology for Insurance Brokerages. The VRP is a new communications technology that will permit CIM-Data to develop enhanced third party interfaces while providing multi-tier access to multiple databases, multiple types of databases, and multiple communications sources.

What is the VRP?

The VRP is the middle tier between different data sources such as CIM-Data’s zFiler Database such as CIM-Data’s VCIM.

What does the VRP do?

The VRP connects different processes together and passes data between them, performin data operations on the data that passes. For example, a VCIM could submit an accounting transaction to the VRP which would then execute the transaction program and update the CIM-Data zFiler database. The VRP runs on the same server as the zFiler database. A simple receipt transaction can update as many as eight records in the database. Without the VRP, VCIM would have to update all eight records individually across the network. With the VRP, VCIM sends in only one transaction record across the network. The VRP updates the eight records locally on the server in far less time. Since network utilization is minimized with the VRP, your network can handle more users and your branch offices can operate more quickly.

When is the Availability of The VRP?

CIM-Data is releasing the first version of VRP in Release 4.0A in the fall of 2000 to connect Filer and VCIM and Runbpi. Later releases will include more transaction processing in the VRP and provide interfaces for Runbpi and CIM-Viewer.
